چکیده

Power control algorithms assume that the receiver structure is fixed and iteratively update the transmit powers of the users to provide them with an acceptable quality of service while minimizing the total transmitter power. Multiuser detection on the other hand optimizes the receiver structure with the assumption that the users have fixed transmitter powers. In this study, we combine the two approaches and propose an iterative and distributed power control algorithm which iteratively updates the transmitter powers and receiver filter coefficients of the users. We show that the algorithm converges to a minimum power solution for the powers, and an MMSE multiuser detector for the filter coefficients.

Adaptive CDMA Cell Sectorization with Linear Multiuser Detection

We consider the problem of adaptive cell sectorization in a CDMA system when the receiver employs a linear multiuser detector. Specifically, given the number of sectors and terminal locations, we investigate how to appropriately sectorize the cell, such that the total transmit power is minimized, while each user has acceptable quality of service, under the assumption that the base station emplo...

A Unified Power Control Algorithm for Multiuser Detectors in Large Systems: Convergence and Performance

A unified approach to energy-efficient power control, applicable to a large family of receivers including the matched filter, the decorrelator, the (linear) minimum-mean-squareerror detector (MMSE), and the individually and jointly optimal multiuser detectors, has recently been proposed for code-division-multiple-access (CDMA) networks. This unified power control (UPC) algorithm exploits the li...

Local Maximum Likelihood Multiuser Detection for CDMA Communications

Third-generation mobile radio networks have been under intense research. Code division multiple access (CDMA) has emerged as the mainstream air interface solution for the third-generation networks. As the demand of usable bandwidth is ever increasing, multiuser detection is a necessary means for CDMA systems to reduce effect of multiple access interference and hence increase system capacity. Th...
